Earth 21st century: Slavery is officially banned internationally by all countries.
Despite this, in the world today there are 8.3 million child slaves and 18.7 million more adults enslaved. There are now more slaves now than ever before.
These people are paid no money, locked away and controlled by violence, they lack even the basic rights most of us take for granted.
Although this exploitation is often not called slavery, the conditions are the same. In the four hundred years of the slave trade around 13 million people were shipped from Africa.
A typical Albanian Sex Slave can be bought for £5000 or rented for £30+
People are sold like objects, forced to work for little or no pay and are at the mercy of their 'employers'.
Slavery is prohibited by the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1956 UN Supplementary Convention on the Abolition of Slavery,
the Slave Trade and Institutions and Practices Similar to Slavery. Contemporary slavery takes various forms and affects people of all ages, sex and race.
Men are forced to work as slaves on Brazilian agricultural estates, Eastern European Women are forced into prostitution and children are trafficked between West African countries.
