California Fires - The work of Terrorists?
Due to the California Fires of 10/07, about 1 million people had to leave their homes. The areas around San Diego
were among the worst affected. Evacuation centres struggled to provide shelter for more than 300,000 people.
George W Bush
assured California residents that the federal government would provide the resources, manpower and equipment needed to fight the fires.
Mr Bush has declared seven counties in the state as a major disaster area and he stated "It's a sad situation out there in Southern California."
One arson suspect was shot dead by police after a pursuit and another was arrested, although neither man has been connected with any major fire.
al Qaedai's new WMD?
Fox News anchors even tried to spread fears of an 'al Qaeda' link to the fires. It would be a cheap and effective method, but not this time. Most arsonists are sad people who like to watch the fires and play with themselves. Police say at least one of the larger fires may have been started deliberately, with talent like that protecting you - you can sleep easy tonight.
